Tan Sri Dr Lim Wee Chai Medical Museum
Preserving medical heritage and opening new paths to learning at Universiti Malaya.
A place for discovery
Located at the Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya, the Tan Sri Dr Lim Wee Chai Medical Museum brings medical history, science and education into one shared space. Its story is documented in Medical Museum Heritage, the museum’s inaugural publication.
The museum was officially launched on 25 January 2025, following 16 months of planning and development. The publication traces the collaboration behind its collections, displays and learning spaces, alongside the people who brought them to life.

Five connected learning spaces
The publication presents five areas designed to connect the human experience with medical knowledge:
- Cycle of Life: the main exhibition exploring life, health and disease
- Faculty of Medicine Legacy: the faculty’s history and heritage
- Interactive Learning Area: activities using technology and simulation
- The Living Lab: a space for student learning
- The Gallery: another perspective on medicine through visual storytelling

Learning beyond the collection
Alongside the museum’s development, the first issue records educational programmes, research, community partnerships and the contributions of volunteers and interns. These stories show how a medical museum can support curiosity, discussion and lifelong learning.
